I have been swimming for as long as I can remember. I started lessons when I was three years old, training with York City Bathc Club and New Earswick Swimming Club and often taking part in friendly and competitive galas. My two favourite strokes have always been backstroke and breaststroke. As I grew up, I decided I wanted to share my passion for swimming with others and help them to swim, so I qualified as a Level 1 and then a Level 2 swimming teacher, I am also a qualified lifeguard. I have previously worked at two other swim schools in York.
I went to All Saints RC School Sixth Form and left with 3 A Levels in 2015. I'm now currently in my second year of a Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship at Carr Junior School in York, which I love! I have always wanted to work with children, and both my jobs allow me to see children learn and develop new skills in and out of the water.
I believe swimming lessons should focus on developing the basic skills first and then progress to build stamina later. I think lessons should be fun and include some games based learning, the Learn to Swim programme is perfect for this.
